Trans Ash, a growing Cincinnati based civil construction & environmental company, has a position for a Project Controls Specialist in the utility construction industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of industry experience in Project Scheduling using Primavera 6.  Additionally, an entry level applicant will be considered with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Overall Purpose:

The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all project scheduling activities on construction projects.This position will assume an integral part of the site team.The project controls specialist must be knowledgeable enough to effectively assist, review and critique the logic, sequence and durations through a comprehensive understanding of the project work scope. The project controls specialist must perform updates and required modifications to the schedule as construction progresses.

This position will be based out of Mobile, AL or Birmingham, AL and will require some initial traveling for training. The expected duration of the project is approximately 7-8 years.

Job Description:Applicants must be able to perform the following job duties:

  • Status updating project schedules for civil construction projects
  • Building new construction schedules
  • Apply change management and baseline maintenance specific to contracts
  • Commodity curve management
  • Understand the use of nonlabor resources
  • Resource leveling analysis
  • Recovery schedule creation and analysis
  • Utilize resource profiles and spreadsheets to analyze work performance or “what-if” planning
  • Understand and utilize Earned Value Management
  • Revenue projection in accordance with billing
  • Analytical review of billing accuracy and primavera data
  • Budget analysis and reporting
  • Trend/anomaly identification
  • Lessons learned identification and management
  • Heavy Job Manager/Production Quantity Adjustments
  • P6 Lookahead schedules and reporting
  • Represent Trans Ash in customer management or scheduling meetings, speak intelligently of our work flow and performance
  • Understand daily construction activities
  • Identify and analyze cost and schedule variance
  • Understand phase codes, cost types, budget and pay item relationships
  • Provide Training to other team members as needed
  • Understand how to read HCSS Heavy Bid printouts
  • Understand contract compensation and perform small scale estimating on cost buildup, etc if necessary
  • Help create engineering, SOP’s and Document Control Procedures
  • Possess good communication skills and is comfortable representing the company is meetings
  • Understands in detail how to read and interpret construction schedules, drawings and specifications and how they relate to the project schedule.High level of involvement with the site operations team, assumes more of a management role in decision making onsite.
